Position:        Associate Editor for Linemakers and SN Fantasy

Report to:      Managing Editor, premium products

Location:       Charlotte, North Carolina

Salary:           Determined by experience and qualifications

Sporting News Media is part of PERFORM, a leading global digital media company. The Linemakers on Sporting News is SN’s sports betting information channel partnered with The Linemakers, a group of former sports book operators based in Las Vegas. SN Fantasy covers primarily fantasy football and baseball but also touches on other daily fantasy games like NBA and NHL.

 

JOB SUMMARY:

 

We are seeking an ambitious and motivated journalist for a full-time editorial position with The Linemakers and SN Fantasy. The job is based at Sporting News’ editorial headquarters in Charlotte, N.C.

 

ROLE:

 

  • Edit and post sports-betting related articles optimized for mobile and search.
  • Write 3-5 articles per day. These articles will be, but are not limited to, daily betting previews across a variety of sports, futures odds, “mock” odds, fantasy football, fantasy baseball and daily fantasy games across a variety of sports.
  • Identify news that impacts sports betting and fantasy sports.
  • Write articles pertaining to the impact breaking news has on sports betting and fantasy sports.
  • Manage Linemakers, SN Fantasy home pages as needed.
  • Manage social media and other outreach efforts for Linemakers, SN Fantasy as needed.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

Successful candidates for this position must :

  • Have one to three years’ experience with a professional sports news organization.
  • Work smart and fast in an autonomous newsroom environment.
  • Be a digital native with experience in online publishing.
  • Look past daily challenges to identify solutions and bring new ideas to the group.
  • Possess understanding of sports betting concepts and terminology.
  • Possess expert understanding of fantasy sports.
  • Be open to working days/nights, weekdays/weekends out of our Charlotte, N.C., office.
  • Have strong grammar skills and a firm grasp of AP Style.
  • Have strong knowledge of all U.S. and international sports.
